About Us
Bitroot Foundation is a non-profit organization built around the Bitroot ecosystem, aimed at helping builders, creators, and founders find the most suitable funding sources for their work. Funding sources can be from the Bitroot Foundation itself or other resources within the ecosystem. The Foundation's dream is to discover and invest in blockchain projects with innovative product technology in the BRT ecosystem. We hope to grow together with blockchain entrepreneurs who have dreams and can execute, while contributing our global resources and historical experience to entrepreneurs.
How to Apply
Please note that the following guidelines apply only to Bitroot Foundation grant applications. Application processes for other ecosystem funding sources may differ.
Application
All applicants for Bitroot Foundation standard and convertible grants must fill out the application form here. During the application process, please be sure to: Provide a brief overview of the project. Explain how your project provides public benefit to the Bitroot network Develop a well-structured budget plan with comprehensive milestones.
Application Review (Approximately 1 Week)
All applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. If an application requires in-depth review, Bitroot Foundation experts ("SMEs") will contact applicants to schedule a call. The due diligence process may include technical due diligence, market research, and other analyses to determine if the project is suitable for the Bitroot ecosystem and has practical value. Decision and Contact (Approximately 3 Weeks) Applicants will receive notification of whether their proposal is accepted via the email address provided in the application. Approved applicants will work with the Solana Foundation legal team to finalize the grant agreement.
Evaluation Guidelines
While the Bitroot Foundation appreciates diverse ideas in grant applications, the team always focuses on some common points.
Public Goods
We generally consider a project to be a public good if it makes significant open-source contributions to the Bitroot ecosystem or provides meaningful free community services. Depending on the circumstances, we may also consider novel proof-of-concept projects. Projects primarily for commercial purposes typically do not qualify for Bitroot Foundation standard grants and should consider applying for convertible grants.
Open Source
Not all projects need to write code, but they should all embrace the open-source spirit and share learning outcomes with everyone. Projects should benefit the entire community, and while not all project parts need to be open source, all available parts should be open to everyone.
Only Viable on Bitroot Network
Proposals should clearly explain why the project chooses to build within the Bitroot ecosystem rather than on other platforms or using other methods. Why choose Bitroot? How does the Bitroot protocol help teams or projects achieve goals in ways that would otherwise be impossible?
Clear Use of Funds
Please note that this criteria list is not exhaustive, and grant approval is at the discretion of the Bitroot Foundation capital team.
Ecosystem Funding
In addition to the Bitroot Foundation, projects in the Bitroot ecosystem can choose from a wide variety of financing channels. Depending on the project's development stage, geography, or vertical sector, some of these channels may be more suitable for your needs.
Hackathon
The Bitroot Foundation partners with Colosseum to host online hackathons. These competitions allow anyone with an internet connection to quickly launch their next project on Bitroot and join the fastest-growing ecosystem in the cryptocurrency space. Some hackathon winners have the opportunity to join Colosseum's accelerator program, where they will receive pre-seed funding, mentorship, technical resources, and more. For more information about the latest Bitroot hackathons, register for a Colosseum account at colosseum.org
Ecosystem Grant Projects
Various teams within the Bitroot ecosystem operate numerous grant projects. These projects typically focus on specific vertical sectors or specialized areas, targeting specific applicants. The following ecosystem teams operate their own grant projects.
