Add Bitroot to MetaMask: RPC URL and Chain ID
Bitroot speaks standard JSON-RPC, so any wallet that supports custom EVM networks can connect to it. This page shows how to add the network to MetaMask, Rabby or OKX Wallet, and where to read the current RPC URL and Chain ID.
1. Where the network parameters live
The block explorer BRTSCAN (https://devnet.bitroot.co/overview) is the authoritative source for the current network name, RPC URL, Chain ID, currency symbol and block explorer URL. We do not copy those values onto this page. Testnet parameters can change between upgrades, and a stale value is more likely to connect you to the wrong network than to help you.
Testnet and any future mainnet use different parameters. Confirm which environment BRTSCAN is showing before you copy anything.
2. Add the network to MetaMask
- Open MetaMask, click the network selector, then "Add network" and "Add a network manually".
- Open BRTSCAN and copy the five values listed in its network info panel into the form.
- Save and switch to the Bitroot network. A balance of 0 BRT is expected until you claim testnet tokens from the faucet guide.
Rabby and OKX Wallet follow the same flow: look for a "custom network" or "add network manually" entry and paste the same five values.
3. Check that you are on the right chain
Before you sign anything, compare the Chain ID your wallet reports with the one BRTSCAN shows. In code, compare it at runtime instead of trusting a config file:
import { ethers } from "ethers";
const provider = new ethers.JsonRpcProvider(process.env.BITROOT_RPC_URL);
const { chainId } = await provider.getNetwork();
if (chainId !== BigInt(process.env.BITROOT_CHAIN_ID!)) {
throw new Error(`Unexpected chain id: ${chainId}`);
}

5. Common questions
Why does this page not list the RPC URL? The value can change between network versions. BRTSCAN always shows the current one, so it is the only copy we recommend.
Is Bitroot compatible with the wallets I already use? Any wallet that lets you add a custom EVM network works. No plugin or adapter is required.
Do testnet and mainnet share the same parameters? No. RPC URL and Chain ID differ per environment.
